Clay with Character

Hi! I’m Amaran Craig, the maker behind Dusty Rose Block Press & Ceramics.

My work began with linoleum block printing: carving, inking, and pulling prints by hand. About five years ago I added pottery, and the two crafts have been intertwined every since. Carved patterns, print motifs, and a touch of folk-whimsy run through everything I make.

My aesthetic is modern folk with an eclectic streak. I’m drawn to pieces with character, the kind that feel collected over time rather than mass-produced.

Originally from Durham, NC, I’m now based in Bowling Green, KY, where each piece is made in my at-home studio.

My inspiration comes from the South, specifically North Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky, where I’ve spent most of my life. I’m drawn to the things that feel handed down: quilt patterns, garden borders, flowers that seem to grow wild on every back road. I’ve also always loved mid-century modern design, so you’ll see those clean lines, graphic shapes, and retro color palettes paired with something more traditional. The result is folk meets modern, a little imperfect and a little unexpected.

Thank you for supporting my handmade. I hope something here finds a home with you.
